How our price match works

Putting a sound system together

The four parts of any PA

Something to pick up the sound (microphones and DI boxes), something to blend it (a mixing desk), something to amplify it (active speakers and subwoofers) and something to carry it between the three (cables and stands). The catalogue is organised the same way, which is why a system is easy to build once you know how many inputs you have and how big the room is.

Start from the inputs, not the speakers

  • Count what needs a microphone: speeches, readings, vocals, an instrument or two.
  • Count what needs a cable but no microphone: a laptop, a phone playlist, a keyboard, a DJ controller.
  • That total is your channel count, and it decides the desk before anything else.
  • Then size the speakers to the room, and add monitors if performers need to hear themselves.

Dry hire or with an engineer

  • Dry hire suits anyone comfortable setting up and running a small system, and costs less.
  • With an engineer we set up, sound check, run the event and pack down.
  • In between: we set the system up and leave it preset, with a short handover.

Common questions

What is the difference between dry hire and wet hire?
Dry hire is equipment only. Wet hire includes our time — delivery, setup, operating the equipment through the event and collection. Most weddings want wet hire for the sound and dry hire for the furniture.
Can I collect the equipment myself?
Yes for smaller orders, from our Lincoln base. Speakers, desks and lighting are heavier than they look and need a van rather than a car boot, so we will tell you what will fit.
How far in advance should I book?
Six to eight weeks is comfortable for a wedding, and earlier for a Saturday in summer. We will tell you honestly whether the date is still workable.

Complete sound reinforcement for weddings, conferences and live music across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Active speakers and subwoofers, mixing consoles, radio microphones and DI boxes, available as dry hire or with one of our engineers to run it for you. Tell us the room and the audience and we will specify a system that covers it without being louder than it needs to be. Delivered to Lincoln, Boston, Grantham and across Nottinghamshire, or collected from our Lincoln base.
