How our price match works

What uplighting does for a room

Lighting the walls changes the room

An uplighter sits on the floor and washes a wall, pillar or drape in colour. Done well it is the cheapest way to make a plain village hall or a marquee feel like a venue, and because the light comes from low down it flatters the room without shining in anyone eyes.

Battery or mains

  • Battery units go anywhere without a cable run — useful in marquees, churches and rooms where trailing leads would be a trip hazard.
  • Mains units are brighter and cheaper to hire where there is a socket nearby and a safe route to it.
  • Both are DMX controlled, so the colour can change between the ceremony, the meal and the party.

How many for my room

  • One unit per wall feature: between pillars, either side of a doorway, behind a top table.
  • Space them evenly — two lights at one end of a wall looks like a mistake.
  • Match the colour to the theme rather than the other way round; bring a swatch or a photograph of the flowers.

Common questions

How many uplighters do I need?
As a rule of thumb, one per three to four metres of wall you want to light, and one per pillar. Tell us the room dimensions and we will work out a number rather than guessing.
Can uplighters be used outdoors?
Battery units work well under a marquee or a gazebo. In open weather we would use covered positions — the units are not designed to sit in rain.
Will they make the room too bright?
No — uplighting is aimed at the walls rather than the room, and it is dimmable. It usually reads as warmer and more even than the venue own lighting.

Battery and mains uplighters that wash marquee walls, pillars and venue features in colour, plus warm white festoon for a softer look. Quiet, cool-running and quick to place, they change how a room feels more per pound than almost anything else we hire, and the battery units mean no cable runs across a dance floor. Battery uplighters delivered to Lincoln, Stamford, Southwell and the surrounding villages, with no cable runs needed.
