Tables and chairs: how many, and which

The two numbers you need

One chair per guest, and one 6ft table per six guests for a meal. A 6ft trestle seats three down each side, or eight if you use the ends, and the same table works as a buffet, a bar, a cake table or a registration desk. The chairs are white resin: they stack flat, wipe clean and photograph well in a marquee or a hotel room.

Working out quantities

• 60 guests need ten tables for a sit-down meal, or two to three tables end to end for a buffet.
• Add a few spare chairs for late confirmations and for anyone resting at the side.
• If the ceremony and the meal are in different rooms, either book two sets or plan the move into the timings.
• Ask the venue about its own furniture first — some include chairs, and hiring twice is an easy mistake.

What to check

• Access: how far from the van to the room, and are there steps? It affects delivery time and sometimes the price.
• Table linen is not included — decide whether you are hiring cloths or dressing the tables yourself.
• Storage on site if the furniture arrives the day before or stays after.

• Collect the furniture from us in Lincoln, take delivery only, or book delivery, setup and collection. Delivery is quoted by postcode and quantity.
• Full-service setup puts the tables and chairs where you want them and breaks them down afterwards.
• If you take delivery only, we show you how the tables and chairs unfold, lock and stack.
• Hire is priced by the length of the booking. Longer bookings cost less per day than a single day.
• A deposit confirms the booking, and we agree delivery and collection times before the event.

Common questions

How many chairs and tables for 100 guests?

About 100 chairs and 17 tables for a sit-down meal, plus a handful of spares. If the ceremony and meal share a room, the same chairs usually move across.

Can furniture be delivered the day before?

Often, yes, subject to what else is out that weekend. Earlier delivery is charged as extra hire days, so it is worth asking what the venue will allow.

Are the chairs suitable outdoors?

They are fine on grass or decking in dry weather and wipe clean afterwards. We would not leave them out overnight in the rain, and wind is worth planning for.

Do you deliver and set up tables and chairs?

Yes. You can collect from us in Lincoln, take delivery only, or book delivery, setup and collection. Tell us the venue, date and quantities and we will quote delivery and setup with the furniture.

How long can we hire tables and chairs for?

From a single day to a week. The daily rate falls on longer bookings, so tell us the dates and we will quote the right length; longer periods can be quoted on request.
